Last day of the month! 456/4487miles https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvEKZ5LXw6 Well that was cold, 26f this morning with frozen water all over, how crazy is this.   This is after two previous days of cold and wet riding to Stewert and from Stewert to our camp site nesr lake burns. glad Howard suggest a motel in stewert, bugs where relentless and very much in the face. Its the end of the month as we know it. Woke up at 4am to some very cold but clear skies. Bike showed 30.2f, weather app for area showed 26f, I'm guessing 26, frozen water and a chilly night.  No bears to feed but a car at midnight showed up at a campsight near us and left engine running for about 30 minutes.  I got up and flashed my lights at them, but I suspect windows where too steamed up for them to notice.  Moon was out and a stary night sky, so that was worth it. Now a quarter to 6 and we are packing up.  Two cups of coffee..  my phone is being charged from a portable battery, but sa...

Day 13, May 30 333/4032 https://www.relive.cc/view/vZqNLPrp43O 333/4032 miles, still cold, but we are better prepared, Howard and I look like the stay puff people, or is that Hans and Franz with several jackets on. A fun drive with more bears along the road, one eagle flying by was amazing. Forgot to mention we saw a red fox on the way to Stewert yesterday. Great drive even if cold. I do love my heated jacket! I am up early at 4, digging thru the phone, Howard is up not much later, and we get moving to go visit Salmon glacier.  Out the door with passports (so we can get back into canada) at 630am.  It is not raining as we head out.  When we asked about riding to the glacier look out, the road crew that stopped us for the road work that takes place every summer, I asked if it was open all the way up. She was front Stewert and didn't think it had been cleared all the way up yet.  The ride up,  is about 22 miles with less than a quarter of it paved, lots of const...

Day 12, May 29, happy memorial day... 403/3698 miles. Ride was long timewise as roads are wet and bumpy https://www.relive.cc/view/vdvmXBEyPxq And... we are headed south, for what feels like winter.  Mostly mid 40, windchill factor at 60mph, and some rainmaker for two very cold riders. Early to bed due to rain....  up early tho, probably as I had to pee. Hard to leave warm sleeping bag and tent.  Cold and brisk, so a two cup of coffee sorts morning with some hot cereal. Ride was nice, but started with snow icon on the bikes dash. Burr, and burr was the word all day Made it to Stewert Canada, tomorrow we Cross the border into Hyder, Alaska.  Much rather be in tok tomorrow night, but this is a good call, and Howard points out it looks very cold and wet for this week. Tomorrow, as we are close to salmon glacier as we can get up and check it out.

Day 11, May 28

322/3295 miles driven. https://www.relive.cc/view/vr63wZ53Gd6 Made it to Watson lake, sitting in tent after a nice 2 hour nap.  Very cold out and raining, but I'm warm and dry in my tent.  Howard has a nice fire going in the fire pit. Today, was a great ride if you can believe it.  A bunch of rain leaving Fort Nelson, and on and off all day.  But an amazing ride, tons of curves ever-changing scenery.  Bears, a mom and two cubs, single and herds of Bisson, white tail sheep, even fish in the stream where we stopped to stretch. Nice to get to Watson lake, down to about 30 miles of fuel left. Badish news, my front shock blew out and spewed dampner fluid.  So I need to abort the northern treck and semi limp back to sandiego.  Not so bad till I hit bumps, like a gravel road, it sounds like a can of pebbles and doesn't feel right. Drives ok, just pogos or feels soft and goes clunck... Good news, this will give us more time in the pacific north west. Tomorrow,...

Day 10, May 27, at  https://www.relive.cc/view/vJOKZX4G2wv On the road, day 10, about 24 days left of our trip. At tim Hortons for coffee and a bite of breakfast.  Not sure why but my posts are missing the photos?? Made it to Fort Nelson.  A 478 mile ride, went great.  Bike started going clunk up front.  After some pupus and beer, a shower and some clean laundry...  I took a look at my bike.  Seems like the front shock might be blown. Leaking thick oil down the front of the bike.  Not cool.  I suspect doing the denaly highway is out. On the bright side we can slow it down and get some hiking in.  More on this later. I suspect I can limp back to San diego safely. On the brighter side of life, more bears, moose, eagle.  Amazing roads, great weather.  Howard spotted some bad fires to our south east.  The fires did look huge! We did drive thru some recent burns, many miles of it. 9pm and I'm pooped.  Keep the sh...
