Now sitting at a sheraton next to a costco, eating great food and yes, the best beer yet. Stay tuned for the camping road from hell..
Up early as always, we head to tifono. Most places are still closed, but we are able to find a hi-muckymuck breakfast place, i.e. coffee and egg sandwiches. It works. Beautiful place Tofino, not surrounded why surf capitol of Canada but, ehhh it works.
Leaving we find radar hill, an offshoot with a spectacular view of the beaches and woods. We finally find the mystery bird from Salmon glacier. Where I would walk away and hear a funky owl buzz funky sound. Turns out to be a groove or some such thing.
(Our culprit for the funny owl and buzzing sounds)
We leave and find long Beach, and yes it is long. Water is cold to the touch and no shorts or bikinis are found here. Nice to touch the pacific, I try to put my toes in at any ocean I visit. You can almost see hawaii in the distance.
i sat next to this bear seven years agoJune 29, 2016... a litrle skinnier maybe...
Off we go, we stop for some food and via food a plan is formed. Found a camping spot out of Victoria, Goldstream provincial park, about 12 miles out of Victoria. Plan is attack and secure a tent site, tent up and hit victoria foe some dinner. I figure we get to victoria eat and one drink then walk for a couple hours should be fine to get us back to camp.
With the plan hatched, we are now sitting at jinglepot pub. Next door is a laundry mat, and the place is so slow Howard grabs the laundry and I feed the washer while we wait for the new york strip to be raised, fed, killed dried, butchered, sent to China and back and maybe cooked. One nice lady and the place is slow. No rush, hawaiian style. Laundry done and off we go, headed to Goldstream provincial park. Alas I pull a Ross Friday 430pm traffic and like a salmon head upstream against traffic with cars ripping down a one way road. Super crazy, I pull off several miles from the entrance, thinking why are all these people leaving the park and campsight. Pulling over we are on a single lane road with people ripping down. Very steep roads back and forth we go. Stopping I pull up internet and find I had passed the day use park, so we turn around to head to the campsight. This road is more terrifying the. Any we have been on thus far, I age about 15 years in two miles. Back we go. finally at the highway of friday single lane hell. A bunch into it a car stops for use to pull out. A bit sketch the bikes are fast and we avoid becoming grill attachments for a big bus. We drive a few miles and find the campground. Bad news they are very full. We go back down to the road, get gas and i search for a camp site or motel. Finally after several phone calls i find a sheriton about eight minutes away. Nice place, super clean and new, next to a costcos we land and check in! Life is good. A great shower, walk thru a ginormous costcos and dinner of fish and chips and a few beers. I suspect I may be snoring layer (sorry howard).
Well, I have hope for one more beer and a swim at the pool before knocking off for the night. Enjoy our Relive video listed at the start.
