Day 15, June 1
Day 15, June 1
261/4750 milesNice morning, up early for the ride down to Whistler off hwy 99. Departure at 610am makes for a fun ride day. Well, except I had to dig my sunglasses out of my tent pocket. The ride was great, not a ton of miles but some epic scenery, an eagle on the road (I thought was a cat) until it lifted off about 10 feet from us. A black bear and a brown bear, a ton of people hitchhiking and not peddling on e-bikes, we must be in Whistler... Nice ride from our Texas Creek campground, it amazing ride, one of the best
Learned a new hand signal that took me a bit to understand. Left arm over the chest, with a fist, rubbing back and forth. Ohh it is cold about 32f thru the passes.

Made it to Horseshoe bay ferry terminal, a little turned around we finally get to the bike loading area. A ton of bikes and a ton of cars for sure. We get our tickets and head over to the bike farm, area where the bikes hang out. I was worried we would be to early, but it worked great. Parked talked story, walked over for a bio break and came back to chat. Like the indi 500, we all get on our bikes and start up only to wait with engines running. We are on the upped deck so about 20 bikes head onto the ferry starboard side. Do ferry,'s have a port and starboard if they go in both directions, hmm. Need more beer and camp fires to thi k that one over.

2016 photo, same bear...
On we go, some blocks to keep the bikes from playing domino's (knocking each one over) and up to the warmer decks only to find that cup of coffee gas a pretty Ling like. We wander the decks and explore the ferry. Eventually we get some lunch and I take a sgort nap, hope I didn't snore to much. Up just in time to follow other bikers to our bikes, otherwise I would be completely lost on five decks. We chat some more. One group is a set of canadian military visiting a friend he fought with. Other retired people and people that just like to ride.
I like Canadians. Great people. Well 8pm and we made it to Ucluelet campground. I stayed here before. The memory of sharing, and then dinner and a couple beers and wandering across the st to my camping spot brought back memories. Great dinner and fun chatting with Howard. With that I am sitting I. From t of our campfire, 830pm and one side of me is cold, the other is melting, so I think I'm to bed soon. Not sure how cold it will be tonight. Weather thinks a low of 42f, hmm.
Warm and fuzzy thoughts to all. Ps the chocolate brownie dessert was amazing.
