Loved that show, funny as anything.


Somehow we have put on a total of 1889 miles total with 365 miles since leaving Kawika's house of most ono food. Up at 6, a killer breakfast and some coffee for us and our flasks, we pet his dogs, take some pictures and off we go.  It is  a cool morning,  but not as bad as we had anticipated  We stop for gas and off we go to cross the boarder at Northport. 










A quick and with minimal interaction, and we are off like a heard of moose at 80kph, aka 50mph.  It is a pretty windy road up to Silverton with some occasional showers.  The roads are super steep lots of switch backs, like the Canadian alps.  Cute towns we pass thru.






We make it to Silverton at 4:15, I call Rick and Barbara picks up the phone, so good to hear her voice..  I ask for a 15-minute headstart so we can get our tents up and put a few things away.

Camp sets up quickly amazing how fast compared to the first night, and it looked like rain.  Off to dinner at a really cool old hotel out on the porch.  It is actually very comfortable weather-wise.  Dinner is fun and hours later we are walking in the front as Professor Tegler tells us about the history and Geology, amazing.  Back to camp just before it rains, perfect timing.  Rick suggests we stay another day to explore, but I think we need to roll on.




Jumping in our tents, as it has started to rain, it is 9pm.  This gives me time to setup, do some typing and fall asleep.  I end up falling asleep early, and get a great night's sleep. So we are both up 5amish breaking camp, nice morning, warmer than anticipated.  I had only gotten about 1.5 paragraphs in last night. It is now 615am and we are loaded for some more miles.  Bikes are packed and we decide to ride to find a coffee shop up ahead.  Looking like yet another great day as we head to the ice fields.

Sorry for the writing issues, but doing everything from my phone, and half the time no mo glasses on.

 And today was nice but short.. https://www.relive.cc/view/v1vj9Dp2pJq How's about that, June 4th drove from Mora campsight via the beach and stopped at more beaches. Meet a couple from the east  coast that showed me pics of a tropical looking forest, so headed there. Now at Gatton Beach creek campsight.  Howard had us on a great 4 mile hike thru some tropical forest up in the hills.  A really nice hike, old forest cedar trees, streams and maybe some bear poop... Well back at camp, went for a swim and found it very refreshing. Sitting in my cool camping chair finished a beer and some chips, dinner is at the salmon house less than a half miles away.  I think we will walk.  Talk amongst the group about staying a second night... discussion is how cold will it be tonight...  only time will tell, stay tuned for more on Howard and John's driving in circles. Arrived at the salmon house for dinner I  , ordered.... The spaghetti and meatballs of course. no...

Day 22, June 8th

 Day 22, June 8th https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvrVAXAdLv Off from camping at Rainier, a nice night, I went top less st 4k feet, we'll just the screen no tent covering to keep the bears and raccoons out.   Warm till 11, then a small light blanket then about 2am I dove into my sleeping bag.  Up early and on the road, we stop for coffee and simple food at a hiking inn just outside the park.  Good stuff.  I try to get us to the backside of Mount saint helens. But both roads are blocked due to snow and other road issues. First road about 15 miles in towards Couger, we need to turn around.  Super nice bike road for sure.  Then back to the sispus road and down to Mount Adam's, but alas when we ask at the conservation core camp off sysapus, they tell us the road is closed and back to the highway we go.  Now at a pretty cool dinner in Naches at about 2pm. Day 23, June 9th

 https://www.relive.cc/view/v7O9JDdn2Q6 Woke early, very early 430 or so.  Wet last night and wet as we break camp this morning, tents put away wet. Did I mention is was wet. Getting up and out of the tents brings on the mosquitos.  Mosquitos are all wearing slikers and don't mind the gentle rain as much as I do.  I suspect it is breakfast time for them, and they are famished after a humid wet night.  Alas just a gentle mist of rain.   Leaving camp behind us, we head south and circle west to Portland.  Stopping along the way for some coffee and breakfast burritos.  Just before breakfast I tell Howard I want to stop at the dams in Dalles, there are three of them.  Stopping I get off the bike and am approached by a worked and she sees me taking photos, she waves me over for some better photos.  Good fun, she texts me some great pics of the damage and mt hood, her coworker also dressed in hard hat, safety vest gloves and also covered ...
