Day 2, May 19th

Relive video of our ride: https://www.relive.cc/view/vQvxz3REnB6

Anddd, we got the bikes. Great news and a nice cool morning in SanDiego. Picked up our bikes  at 811am.  I am suspecting Howard is the people whisperer to get them to cut the bikes free before 10am.  Super good news and a great way to start a road trip, that is with the bikes, and not having to rent a car over the weekend.  Pasha had left Hawaii late, being closed on weekends, we may have had to hang out till Monday or Tuesday.

With our bikes in hand, we load our gear and hope what we packed will actually fit.
Somehow it all fits on the bike...

Leaving Road One we gas up and head north, destination Lake Isabella. We have great traffic and weather.  We avoid the armpit of LA, as we head to Lake Isabella, via Riverside and San Bernadino.  We Cross the Mojave desert while I hum to myself, "been on a motorcycle with no name, it felt good to be out of the hilo rain..." ok, it was hot out.

We have helmet communications and we chat as we go. The bikes have tons of info as we ride, tire pressure, outside air, engine temp, etc.  My bike usually runs at about 176f.  It is warm out today, 95f when Howard asks "how's the bike temp" I look and it is hi, about 200f, then it keeps climbing, 210, 210.5, 211, ho Schlitz I say in panic mode, we need to pull over engine is 215f, so we pull off the freeway at a gas station. Howard asks if im reading the right screen? Alas I was looking at the trip counter, 210 miles... 215 miles, ok I'm an idiot.  More water is needed.

We turn off the highway onto a wonderfully oak tree lined road with tons of fun curves on the way to the lake.

It's a really nice drive heading to
lake.  With lots to see as the air cools down.  We find a Vons and stock up on food for the evening.  We are both tired from arriving from our very long flight on ground and then late flight with going to sleep at 2am, and up at 630 for breakfast. We head to the lake, but it doesn't look promising. Windy and funky.  We decide to head across the lake and Howard spots an area that might work and we pull in.   Keyesville rmsa, a nice campground with a gentle babbling brook.  A really nice place.

I wake up and it is midnight, my sleep pattern is messed up, so I am writing this from my phone.  It is now going on 1am, I just read an email from Swerve in Alaska with some great riding ideas.  Off to see my sister and her clan tomorrow, or should I say today.  I had better get some sleep, Ttfn!
